What’s the difference between Rockstars and MVPs?
They both practice constantly which leads to excellent individual performance
Rockstar constantly fights with the coach and trashes the hotel room
MVP listens to the coach
Rockstar causes many of his or her own injuries through self-destructive behavior
MVP displays persistence as they work through injuries and challenges
Rockstar steals from other members of their own band
MVP passes the ball giving his teammates a chance to shine
Rockstar hogs the spotlight, excluding key members of the band.
MVP praises his teammates graciously giving and sharing credit
Rockstar only cares about the music and themselves.
MVP cares about the game and others
Obviously, not all MVPs are as humble and giving as Dale Murphy, some behave more like the stereotypical Rockstar, i.e. the way Ozzy Osbourne once did, who lived so self-destructively that “even his hard-partying Sabbath band mates … kicked him out of the group in 1979.” Similarly not all rock stars are so self-destructive, some of them have more of the spirit of the MVP, like Bono, who in 2006, New York Times columnist, Tom Zeller Jr, branded “the face of fusion philanthropy.”
