What makes an Identity Management Professional?
To me the most successful Identity Management Professionals are able to bring Database skills, Programming skills and System Administration skills, because we access databases and use them, we customize the software with programming, and we often setup the services and administer them.
For example before I started in Identity, I was an MCSE (shows system admin skills), MSCD (programming skills), MCDBA (database skills). Today, I was reviewing BYU Idaho’s online programs, and I could see people who do these four certificates as ready to launch and learn a variety of Identity Management tools.
Computer Support
System Administration (Computer Support is a pre-req)
Database
Computer Programming
While the curriculum is a little light on Microsoft Technology the concepts are solid. I like it!
Certificates that build into Degrees (Assoc and Bachelor)!

Tomorrow Shh...SQL Saturday Los Angeles June 15th
Tomorrow, June 15th I will be speaking at SQL Saturday Los Angeles on How to Be an MVP in Life and on SQL Database Maintenance. This little video shared on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube has received some attention. Also of note the organizer, Steve Rezhener, posted the most popular sessions with my session on How to Be an MVP at the top of the list.
